Obituary

Carolyn Ann French Johnson, age 83, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born on November 6, 1942, in Morgantown, West Virginia, and lived in Texarkana most of her life.  She was a homemaker and a faithful and devoted member of Freedom Grace Fellowship. Carolyn was a precious, soft-spoken individual who always had a smile on her face. She carried herself with grace and had a servant’s heart.  She loved her family deeply and enjoyed car rides to her son’s deer lease in Pike County, where the landscape reminded her of the hills of home in West Virginia. Carolyn also enjoyed spending time on Facebook, where she kept up with the news and updates of family and friends. She loved her little companion, Bella, and enjoyed the time spent with her. She was preceded in death by her husband of over forty years. Gene Donald Johnson, Sr., and one great-granddaughter, Olivea Sanders.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Ted Kelton of Texarkana, Arkansas; two sons, Gene Donald Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Sandie of Texarkana, Arkansas; Darrell Sprout and his wife Tina of Bethlehem,  West Virginia; her sister, Dolores Caudill of Marysville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives.

It is always painful when we lose those we love and cherish, but how beautiful Heaven must be. So many of our loved ones are waiting over there for us. I am praying for the family that God wraps his arms around them and carries them through this time of sorrow.
